'Chammak challo' made 2011 fantastic: Composer Vishal

Mumbai, Dec 16 (IANS) Music composer-duo Vishal-Shekhar had a great 2011 with their songs like 'Chammak challo' and 'Ooh la la' topping the charts. Vishal says he is elated with the fact that their song is being played across the globe.

'Yesterday, I saw a very good article in the paper. It said, out of all the songs this year, 'Chammak challo' has received 51 percent votes as the number one item song of the year. And the number two item song is 'Ooh la la'. So, we have got about 67 percent of all the songs...so I think it's been a fantastic year for us,' Shekhar said who along with partner Vishal will be performing at the New Year Eve's event Seduction 2012.
Though both the songs grabbed top spots, Shekhar is happier for 'Chammak challo', sung by international pop star Akon.
'I would say that 'Chammak challo' became very huge and popular in India as well as abroad. All the clubs were playing it. So as an Indian we are very proud that our songs are being played across the globe,' said a gushing Shekhar who also crooned a few lines of the songs 'Dildaara' and 'Raftaarein'.
The composer duo already have three films in hand for next year - Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year', Sujoy Ghosh's 'Kahaani' and Dibakar Banerjee's 'Shanghai'.

Jism 2 – Emraan or John

Jism was one movie which created new barriers for ‘bold’ in Bollywood. And the Bhatt’s are planning the sequel of the same. Anticipations are that the movie will be as popular as the original Bollywood flick.

The moment Bhatt’s announced the sequel eyes started revolving around the star-cast of the much awaited flick. When Bhatt’s announced plans for next in the series of ‘Jism’, one of the first names that came to mind of many out there was Emraan Hashmi. The reasons quoted were simple enough. The actor has been performing extremely well for the past sometime. Emraan seems to be doing too good with films made by his uncles/mentors production house. Movie franchises like ‘Raaz’, ‘Murder’, and the recent addition ‘Jannat’ speak of the milestones that Emraan has achieved. Speculations of Imraan’s slipping into Jism 2 ran far and wide. The chances were only strenghened when Imran’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ rolled high at the box-office. The success further opened opportunities for the star to sign up for movies outside the Vishesh Productions banner.

Sources said that his recent success had made the Bhatt’s seriously consider him for ‘Jism 2′. However, it seems that there has been a recent change in the sequence of events. The makers now are towing John Abraham for the role and the possibility now is high of John being finalized for the role.

The film’s leading lady is go be finalized as soon as writer Shagufta Rafique and director Pooja Bhatt are done fine tuning the film’s script. A source claimed that irrespective of the fact whether John is part of the film or not it is quite certain that Emraan is not going to be there in this sequel. There might be rumors looming at large about the Bhatt’s being confused between their blue eyed boy Emraan and John a source close to Imraan clarified that the actor is least interested in this franchise.

However, contrary to rumors making the rounds that there was indeed a
toss up between Emraan Hashmi and John Abraham for ‘Jism 2′, the fact
remains that Bhatts’ blue eyed boy is himself least interested in
stepping into this franchise. According to the source the actor does not want to indulge in too many erotic films in a year. With him being the default choice for ‘Murder’ it would be too much of a mismatch if Imraan decided on doing ‘Jism’ as well.

Besides the actor seems pretty tied up with franchises like ‘Jannat’ and others. It seems he had too much of work load in hand to do a role in ‘Jism’. When contacted for comment Emraan clarified that he will not be a part of ‘Jism’ but did not give a reason why.

Kangana meets Salman at midnight

Few days back, we reported about Salman Khan and Kangana Ranaut’s new found friendship. It seems now that their friendship has grown too stronger with Kangana Ranaut’s late night visit to Salman Khan on the set of Atul Agnihotri’s ‘Bodyguard’.

      

The actress arrived on the set at the midnight, chatted with Salman Khan for long hours and then the duo left the studio on Salman’s car. The duo supposed to work in a movie got shelved but their dosti is still continuing and growing stronger.

Goa lawmakers to discuss ‘Dum Maaro Dum’

BollywoodWorld.com Already in the news for short skirts, bikinis and drugs, upcoming Bollywood flick “Dum Maaro Dum” (DMD) is all set to make waves in the Goa legislative assembly this week.

Lawmakers in Goa are likely to discuss a calling attention motion moved by former tourism minister Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco, who has said that the Rohan Sippy film, whose racy promos are making waves, projected Goa in a bad light.

“I have moved a calling attention motion before the speaker of legislative assembly, Pratapsingh Rane. The issue will be raised this week during the ongoing state legislative assembly session,” Pacheco said. 

“‘Dum Maaro Dum’ will badly dent the image of Goa. Our tourism season will be badly affected because of the film,” said Pacheco, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator from Benaulim.

Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, the film is all set for release April 22.

“We are looking at family tourism in the state. We don’t want the tag of sex and drug tourism, which this film shows. It will kill the industry,” said Pacheco, a controversial personality himself.

Over his chequered political career, Pacheco has been booked for a wide range of crimes, including extortion, assault, bigamy, forgery and money laundering. He was also in the news more than a year back after he called Goa “the rape capital of India”, while commenting on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

“Looking at the promos of the movie, it is clear that the movie portrays the bad image about the state. If the movie is fiction, then they should have avoided naming Goa in it. The entire state cannot be defamed just because of a filmmaker’s imagination,” Pacheco said.

In February, Goa Police as well as Chief Minister Digambar Kamat had said that they would be asking the film’s director to have a special screening of the film, prior to its release, for the officials in Goa.

The tourism industry in Goa has also cited concerns about the projections of the state in the film, with a top tourism trade official saying that “the film could have bad repercussion for tourism in Goa, if it throws up scenes of prostitution and drugs”.

Salman Khan, born Abdul Rashid Salman Khan on December 27, 1965 is a popular Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood movies. He is considered to be one of the biggest superstars in the industry.

CAREER:
Salman made his acting debut in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi where he played a supporting role. His first leading role in a Bollywood movie was in a romantic film "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989). * September 28, 2002. Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving. He was under the influence of alcohol and his car veered onto a sidewalk outside a bakery in Mumbai. One person who was sleeping on the sidewalk died and three others were injured. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped ). However, some legal action in this case appears to be on-going.


* February 17, 2006. Salman was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal.

* April 10, 2006. Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara. He was remanded to Jodhpur jail, and remained there until April 13, when he was granted bail.

Relationship troubles:

* His turbulent relationship with Aishwarya Rai filled gossip columns. Her parents lodged a complaint against him and he was thrown off a movie set on which Ms. Rai was filming.



* In 2005, news outlets released what was said to be an illicit copy of a mobile phone call recorded in 2001 by the Mumbai police. Deepika chooses friends and Thai massages over work

Deepika Padukone will attend a friend's wedding instead of unveiling her item number for Dum Maaro Dum

Deepika Padukone has given her friends precedence over work commitments. She has taken off to Thailand to attend a close friend's wedding.

The star was to unveil her item number (the Dum Maaro Dum title track) during the India-South Africa World Cup match on March 12. But she excused herself saying she had committed to shooting in Bhopal for Prakash Jha's Aarakshan. Consequently, she will be a no-show in both places.

The film's main cast ”Abhishek Bachchan, Prateik, Rana Daggubatti and Bipasha Basu ”are expected to attend.

A source close to Dippy maintains, "She hasn't taken a break for a long time. Her schedule for Aarakshan has been intense. So when her friend called to invite her for the wedding she jumped at the opportunity to take a short break. Deepika had her film's schedule changed to make time for the shaadi."

However, she shot for her parts for Jha's film before leaving, so the unit wouldn't suffer. "She didn't want to delay the film in any way." Apart from attending the wedding, DP also plans to unwind with close gal pals in Bangkok. And pamper herself with massages too!
